Good Form Pilot - City of Melton Plate

THE GAME PLAN for Tabcorp Park 05/10/12 – with Michael Polster
Best Bet:

Race 6 No.9 - Mister Zion. This guy may well end up being the first Group 1 winning pacer AND trotter in Australian history. he should overcome the 40m handicap with ease tonight.

Best Value:
Race 4 No. 8 - Buriton Bailey.  This bloke hasn’t had much luck of late but tonight he will trail likely leader Alchemy and has a terrific each way chance.
Best Trifecta:

Race 11 - Charlie Machsheen should be too good first up with Braeview Warrior a clear second pick.  Play this way 6/ 1/ 3,4,5,7.  $40 gets you 1000%.

Quaddies:

1,4,6,8,9/ 4,7,10/ 9/ 2,4,11.  $45 gets you 100%.

Speed Maps – 05/10/12

Race 1 – PACE GOOD IN EARLY SECTION – SLOW ONCE THEY SETTLE DOWN

The late scratching of Highview Ebony has turned this race on its head. She was the likely leader but now almost any runner off the front line can find the top. Expect Please Dont Talk to hold up early before handing up to a horse like Bettor Give It if significant pressure is applied. Claire Jasper is the most likely runner to surge forward in the early/mid stages from a second line draw.

Race 2 – PACE EVEN IN EARLY SECTION – SLOW ONCE THEY SETTLE DOWN

Stand start trots are the toughest races to map and this is no different. Each of the first five horses off the front line can step quickly on their day and the only guarantee is that Imagunnadogood should push forward to find the lead or breeze through the first lap. Inside draws should be favoured but horses like Sparks Ignite and Alabama Skeeta can figure with a cart into the race.
Race 3 – PACE EVEN IN EARLY SECTION – SLOW UNTIL THE FINAL 800M

Another stand start affair, this time for the pacers where Our Flyin Jazz, Pacific Soul, Bubble Art & Bebop can all step quickly from the strands. Whether he gets crossed early or not expect Our Flyin Jazz to look for the front with Dual Agent Tabman likely to sit parked without applying much pressure. Class runners Ronald George, Samara Knight & Artoc should come with one sustained run.
Race 4PACE EVEN IN EARLY SECTION – HEAT APPLIED IN LAST 600M

Alchemy possesses very good gate speed and should lead his rivals with relative ease in the early part although Ubringthedrinks can also fly the gate and may look to test the polemarker in the first 100m. Buriton Bailey is expected to hold up behind the leader from his trailing draw while Shifting Sand and Jaccka Luke should be put into the race before the sprint goes on.
Race 5 PACE EVEN IN EARLY SECTION – GENUINE SPEED THROUGHOUT LAST LAP

This is a tough race to read where Thomas Pyke, Ananz, Toulouse Lautrec and Dominus Vobiscum all have early toe on their day. Expect Thomas Pyke to hold up early with Renaissance Man off and around them to either sit parked or find the front in the early stages of the race. Igetaround may lob leaders back with Atlas Alliance needing luck to work into the race.
Race 6 – PACE GOOD IN EARLY SECTION – GENUINE SPEED THROUGHOUT LAST LAP

Retained, Motu Young Jacob and Sports Fantasy all like to occupy forward positions and should vie for the early lead. Expect either Retained or Sports Fantasy to take up the running with Sassy Pinevale first to make a move from the back and Mister Zion also sent forward to park outside the speed. If the tempo is too slick Mister Zion can race three wide solo and still prove too strong.
Race 7 – PACE FAST IN EARLY SECTIONS – GENUINE SPEED THROUGHOUT LAST LAP

There is any amount of early speed off the front line here with Im Barney Rubble, Chancellor Cullen, Cromac Jamie & Keayang Cullen all likely to push forward at the start. There are a few different scenarios but Im Barney Rubble looks a huge chance of holding the top early with Caribbean Blaster off to find the breeze or lead through the middle stages. Saint Flash should come with one run late.
Race 8PACE GOOD IN EARLY SECTION – SLOW ONCE THEY SETTLE DOWN

This is a difficult race to read but Darcy Tee is a very tough pacer who should keep drilling forward at the start here and it’s likely he’ll either find the front or at worst land in the breeze. Either way he'll be the horse to catch with Freemason & Mach Beauty either working forward with mid-race moves or tagging one another into the race over the final 800m.
Race 9 – PACE EVEN IN EARLY SECTION – SLOW ONCE THEY SETTLE DOWN

Despite his ordinary form Additallup should have enough speed to hold his rivals out early before handing up to either Big Bang Penny or Here And Now. Slice Of Life and Bye Bye Luv Lombo should race handy in the running line with Ariosa forced to race three wide solo for success.
Race 10 – PACE EVEN IN EARLY SECTION – SLOW ONCE THEY SETTLE DOWN

He’s a hit-and-miss proposition but Prescient is a very swift beginner from the mobile who should hold out his only early challenger Arctic Wolf in the run to the first turn. If they begin swiftly enough and neither horse makes an error Arctic Wolf may drop in behind the leader but Family Paco will be hunting up looking for that spot. Confused Superstar should come with one run from the rear.
Race 11 – PACE EVEN IN EARLY SECTION – SLOW ONCE THEY SETTLE DOWN

This is a small field where Rowillie, Cobargo Jack & Public Persuasion will all try to cross polemarker Braeview Warrior early. Whichever finds the pegs first should hand the lead to Charlie Machsheen. If Public Persuasion doesn’t find the pegs expect it to sit parked although the field may race in single file throughout the majority of this race.

PROGRAMME IN REVIEW
Last night @ Echuca Bill ‘Hutchy’ Hutchison tipped five winners from eight races in an outstanding display.

Hutchy tipped The Numbers Man ($3.50), Jordylan ($2.30), Gangster Boy ($2.20) and Sandakan Lombo ($4) on top along with Judyfree ($1.70) who duly saluted as his Best Bet on the card.

Tellingly, six of the eight winners were in front or behind the leader at the bell, outlining the importance of speed maps in finding a winner at the trots – particularly on half-mile tracks.
