Good Form Preview - Saturday @ Shep

THE GAME PLAN for Shepparton – with Michael Polster

Best Bets

One More Smile (Race 1 no. 10)
Yet to salute in five tries this season but he put the writing on the wall with a solid second to Lombo Hot Gun at Cobram last start where he tried hard in a slippery last half. He is a one-paced type and Nathan Jack is expected to inject this bloke into the contest early and whether he finds the lead or sits in the breeze he will take beating.

Easy Lightning (Race 2 no. 7)
Promising type who comes off an excellent third to the impressive Macha at Melton 8 days ago where he held on well in a blistering last quarter of 27.1. He will be ready to show his best now after two runs back from a break and should be too good for his rivals at a short quote with ordinary luck.

Bon Jovi (Race 5 no. 6)
Resumed from a spell at Swan Hill last week and after doing some work from the pole to hold the lead he careered away in the straight to win stylishly in fast time. He will be running the gate once more tonight, looks like getting the front without too much hassle and will be winning again with a repeat of his first up effort.

BLACK BOOKERS – (Racing Tonight)

Bon Jovi (Race 5 no. 6)
Resumed from a spell at Swan Hill last week and after doing some work from the pole to hold the lead he careered away in the straight to win stylishly in fast time. He will be running the gate once more tonight, looks like getting the front without too much hassle and will be winning again with a repeat of his first up effort. Click here to view the run.

Apollos Gift (Race 6 no. 12)
John Newberry-trained squaregaiter who won impressively first up then looked like winning or running second in his Black Book performance before galloping in the lane at his next start. He had no luck when working too hard from a 20m handicap but shouldn’t be too far off them from the mobile start tonight. Click here to view his Black Book run.

Classic Icon (Race 7 no. 6)
Sustained a long run from the 600m at Melton last start and did a good job to hang onto second behind talented sit-sprinter Coltrane Bromac in 1:57.5 for the short course. He is ideally-placed tonight with the claim for Matthew Newberry and can go one better with the right run in transit from his wide alley. Click here to view the run.

BLACK BOOKERS – (Melton Last Night)

Veranjee
Put some luckless runs at Melton of late behind him by sitting in the breeze and sprinting home in 27.1 to knock off hot favourite Saucy Vision. He will find it a bit harder from now on but with the right kind of run he can be a giant-killer in the coming weeks. Click here to view the run.

Me An Kel
Got dragged back by a tiring runner before eventually getting into the clear and making up plenty of ground on winner Lightning Joy in a 58.4 final half. He is an honest performer who is sure to breakthrough at metropolitan level before too long. Click here to view the run.

Pembrook Caesar
Kiwi import for Craig Demmler who had been trialling well prior to winning well last night where she led and threw down a 27.3 final split at her floundering rivals. She looks a quality mare in the making and will be winning her share of races this campaign. Click here to view the run.

Lady Patti
Still learning what this caper is all about but she showed what she is made of by taking care of a moderate bunch in easy fashion last night. She will only get better with racing and looks a have a bright future once she puts it all together. Click here to view the run.

STAR TRIALLERS – (Racing Tonight)

Forest Babe (Race 4 no. 6)
Capable mare who indicated she is ready to run a big race fresh by trialling nicely at Kilmore last Tuesday behind quality mare Life Inthefastlane. She has a tricky gate to overcome but there looks to be some pace in the affair early and watch for her to be coming at them with purpose at the business end.
