THE GAME PLANS for Bendigo Cup Night

Best Place Bet

Lightning Joy (Race 5 no. 1) $3.40 TAB Fixed Odds - Click here to bet on him now
He didn’t have the best of luck last start when fifth to Aleppo Sunrise at Melton from a tricky draw but tonight he comes up with the ace alley and I think he’s close to a good thing to run a place as he should do enough early out of the gate to hold the back of likely leader I Didnt Do It and will get every possible hope to run the drum thereafter.

The Money Races

Race 1 Real Hammer looks past the post here as he should speed his way to the lead and I think Conflict Of Interest will run the gate with him, cross those to his inside before handing up and he looks a value way to base some trifectas around with the hot pot.  Below is how I’m playing with $100 total spend.

7/ 6/ 1,4,9,11.  $60 gets you 1500%
7/ 1,4,9,11/ 6.  $40 gets you 1000%

Race 2
Timeseel was gallant in defeat in his heat of tonight’s final at Charlton and is the yardstick with Patchitupbaby his danger because I can see her rolling to the lead before handing up to Timeseel and if that is the case they should dominate the race.  I’m taking the below trifectas for $100 total spend.

4/ 3/ 1,5,6,8,10,11,12.  $60 gets you 857.14%
4/ 1,5,6,8,10,11,12/ 3.  $20 gets you 285.71%
3/ 4/ 1,5,6,8,10,11,12.  $20 gets you 285.71%

Race 4
My theory here is that Laughing Holme will be able to begin fast enough to get in front of Now Shezaterror before working to the lead with that mare sitting quietly in the breeze and I can see them fighting the finish out should that scenario play out.  I’m taking the below trifectas for $100 total spend.

3/ 6/ 1,7,10,11,12.  $60 gets you 1200%
3/ 1,7,10,11,12/ 6.  $20 gets you 400%
6/ 3/ 1,7,10,11,12.  $20 gets you 400%

Race 5
As mentioned above I’m very keen on Lightning Joy to get the gun run behind I Didnt Do It and run a place so I’m going to base my trifectas around that pair with $100 total spend.

6/ 1/ 2,8,9,10,11,12.  $50 gets you 833.33%
6/ 2,8,9,10,11,12/ 1.  $50 gets you 833.33%

Quaddies (x4) $100 Outlay
3,6/ 6/ 9/ 2,4,8,9,11.  $40 gets you 400%
3,6/ 6/ 4,7/ 2,4,8,9,11.  $20 gets you 100%
3,6/ 1,9,10,11,12/ 9/ 2,4,8,9,11.  $25 gets you 50%
3,6/ 1,9,10,11,12/ 4,7/ 2,4,8,9,11.  $15 gets you 15%

Best Bet

Real Hammer (Race 1 no. 7) $2 ($50 win)
This guy would be among the quickest horses off the mobile arm racing in Victoria and he should cross what is a pretty quick front line with relative ease tonight. If that scenario plays out then the opposition he faces here simply won’t run him down so at the flip of the coin odds quoted in today’s Herald Sun he’s worth a straight out crack.

Best Value

Laughing Holme (Race 4 no.6) $8 ($25 EW)
He’s no superstar but with the lack of front-line speed here I see this guy getting the front and given $1.50 favourite Now Shezaterror (3) couldn’t hunt Saint Petersburg (11) down after parking outside him last start, I sense he may not be able to overhaul this guy either. We will play w/ all three horses in The Money Race a little later on but it’s also worth having a straight out crack at this guy if he opens $5+.

Grinnersawinner (Race 6 no. 8) $13 ($10 by $40)
This bloke has a few things in his favour. Number one is that for one reason or another he’s often made to do the bullocking work in races and tonight my speed map says he’ll get a cosy run in behind the leader. Number two is that he’s been trialling impressively at Bendigo recently and should be cheery ripe to run a big race and Number Three is that he’s actually still got more than his fair share of talent. Not my top tip but well worth an Each Way crack at double figures for sure.

Best Roughies

Gosh Heza Rebel (Race 1 no. 11) $21 ($50 Place)
I’ve already outlined that Real Hammer (7) appears to have this race on toast if everything goes to plan but this guy is certainly not without a hope of filling a hole with luck. He loomed up to go straight past a slightly easier field than this at Horsham last start but hit the wall late on a day where it was tough to make much ground.  He’ll only need a cart into this to be dangerous today so have something straight out the place and hope for a slice of luck in transit.

Zedaguy (Race 2  no. 10) $26 ($25 EW)
To be honest, I went within a whisker of marking this guy as my on-top selection here. He was enormous in a heat of this race here last start when coming from last and almost mowing his rivals down in a 58.1-second last half. He may have cost himself that race by laying in late and with some early sped likely here I think he’s a huge hope of gathering in his opposition with the right run and can be confidently backed on an Each Way basis.

The Money Race

Race 4

As mentioned above, this looks a dead-set three-horse battle between NOW SHEZATERROR (3), LAUGHING HOLME (6) and SAINT PETERSBURG (11). We’ll be hoping the favourite gets rolled but I reckon we can make some folding regardless with the following Trifectas.
3,6,11/ 3,6,11/ 3,6,11. $45 gets 750%.
3,6,11/ 3,6,11/ 1,10. $48 gets 400%.
3,6,11/ 3,6,11/ 4,7. $7 gets 58.33%.

Quaddies (x2)
3,6,11/ 6/ 7,8,9/ 2,3,4,5,7,8,9,10. $72 gets 100%.
3,6,11/ 12/ 7,8,9/ 2,3,4,5,7,8,9,10. $28 gets 38.89%.

Bill Hutchison (@Hutchysays)

Best Bet

Scully Magic (Race 3 no. 2) $2
I liked its debut effort running second a heat of this race at Charlton behind The Noble Steed who has the awkward alley tonight. From the good gate here it can reverse the decision.

Best Value

Mustang Mach (Race 7 no. 8) $4.80 - Click here to bet on this horse now
He should get the perfect trip behind Auckland Reactor and the way he powered to the linr winning the Yarra Valley Cup last start suggests he's back to his best which would would be well and truly good enough to win this.

Chrissy Styx (Race 10 no. 1) $5
She is a good Each Way bet. Three runs from a spell should have her peaking here and from the ally she can sit and sprint and be dangerous as a result.

Best Roughie

Cold Sister (Race 5 no. 2) $9 TAB Fixed Odds - Click here to bet on this horse now
There's no doubt this girl's the best roughie on the card. She's proven adept at the sprint trip before and has the alley to figure so include her in everything at the handy quote.

Quaddie

3,11/ 3,6,9,10,12/ 1,9/ 2,4,8,9,10,11. $100 gets 83.33%.

Saturday Trainer Talk

Geoff Webster
Bendigo
Best Chance
Kotare Roland (Race 6 no. 9) $1.80
“His run was really good the other night. He settled a fair way back, we gave Our Arlington a cart into the race and we were still pretty unlucky not to run second. His form is really good at the moment and no matter where he draws he’s a nice, handy horse with really good manners.”
Others
Real Hammer (Race 1 no. 7) $2
"You’d think if he found the top he’d be pretty hard to beat. You just have to forget about Sydney and the rest of his form’s been really good so we’re really happy with how he’s going.”
Mister Zion (Race 5 no. 10) $12 TAB Fixed Odds - Click here to bet on this horse now
“Barring any incidents they’re going to know he’s there. He hit the line quite strongly last start and I think he’s getting back towards his best so we’re very happy with him as well.”
Lets Slash An Burn (Race 6 no. 6) $3.50
“I’m not that happy with him and that’s why he’s in the Claimer. He never really runs badly but he hasn’t won for 12 months and that’s why he’s here. I can’t say he’s going poorly but he’s got to start doing something shortly or this is where his future lies. It’s not a bad race either so I wouldn’t say he’s over the line. He’s got a question mark over him that is for sure.”
Globe Derby
Best Chance
Flaming Flutter (Race 3 no. 3) $1.40 TAB Fixed Odds - Click here to bet on him now
“Around Globe Derby if you’re out in front or up near the lead it’s a big advantage and with his good draw and gate speed he should find the lead and be pretty hard to beat. He was a really good two-year-old but they’ve still got to back that up at three so it was very pleasing we were able to sit outside Our Missionary Man and beat him the other night. Fingers crossed he‘s a Derby colt and we’ll find out pretty soon.”
Other
Me An Kel (Race 4 no. 2) $17 TAB Fixed Odds - Click here to bet on this horse now
“He’s just an honest sort of trotter and a bit like with the other one if he’s up near the lead around Globe Derby then he’s some sort of hope. It’s a Cup race but he’s met most of the better ones before and competed well so he’s got a nice Each way chance again here.”

BLACK BOOKERS – (Racing Tonight)

Motu Crusader (Race 7 no. 5) $12 TAB Fixed Odds - Click here to bet on him now
Well-travelled former Kiwi who was first up for Kerryn Manning in the Horsham Cup last Sunday where he ran a cracking race for third behind Melpark Major and he was quite impressive winning the Tasmania Cup at Hobart prior so he is not without an upset chance tonight. Click here to view the run.

Decorated Jasper (Race 7 no. 11) $8 TAB Fixed Odds - Click here to bet on him now
Produced his trademark finish in the Horsham Cup last time where he really motored the last 200m to finish a close-up fifth to Melpark Major and if he gets the race run to suit up front watch for him to be rattling home at a rate of knots once more. Click here to view the run.

Gatesys Girl (Race 9 no. 8) $3
Highly-talented mare who can be a little risky on occasions, as she showed here last start when making a mistake at a vital stage and costing herself victory when fourth behind Duchess Pat.  She looked the goods winning at her previous two and with any luck whatsoever from the tricky draw she will go very close tonight. Click here to view the run.

STAR TRIALLER

Sushi Sushi (Race 7 no. 9) $5 TAB Fixed Odds - Click here to bet on this horse now
Didn’t do a great deal in the Victoria Cup last time when down the track behind Caribbean Blaster but he is now back with Freddy Taiba and if his dominant trial success at Melton last Monday night over Caribbean Blaster is anything to go by he looks set to run a big race tonight.

BLACK BOOKER (Melton Last Night)

National Service
Ran his best race this time in last night where he weaved between runners rounding the turn before charging home along the passing lane into fifth spot behind Smudge Bromac in a 27.4 final quarter.  He is an opportunist who needs a few things to go his way for him to be at his most potent but he should be winning a suitable race soon with the right luck. Click here to view the run.
