Good Form Preview - Manic Monday @ Maryborough

The Game Plan for Maryborough – with Jason Bonnington (@jasonbonnington)

Best Bet

Rockstar Ruler (Race 7) $2.80
This guy looked disappointing two starts back when finding the front and hunted down by McArdle Lassie but that horse franked the form when winning again on Horsham Cup day in a race where this bloke rattled home late to finish third. He is likely to rush forward early from the wide draw today but regardless of tactics he looks the class runner and should be winning with any luck at all.

The Money Races

Race 2
The theory here is very simple. Star three-year-old Ginger Bliss (4) will burst forward early to find the front with quick beginner Viva Courage (2) camped on his back. From there they should finish one-two but I’ll play a saver just in case they don’t.

4/ 2/ 6,10. $50 gets 2500%.
4/ 2/ 1,3,7,8. $40 gets 1000%.
4/ 6,10/ 2. $10 gets 500%.

Race 7
No surprise here that I’m relying on star 4YO’s Restrepo (8) & Charlie Machsheen (9) to run the Quinella but the fact that I’m not conceding the race to Restrepo and that ANYTHING can run third or fourth may ensure we make some folding out of the race regardless. I’m playing two First 4’s as follows.

8,9/ 8,9/ 2,7/ Field. $60 gets 250%.
8,9/ 8,9/ 1,3,4,5,6/ Field. $40 gets 66.67%

Quaddies (x4)
2,3,5,8/ 5,7/ 10/ 8,9. $32 gets 200%.
2,3,5,8/ 5,7/ 1,3,4,8,13/ 8,9. $44 gets 55%.
2,3,5,8/ 4,10,11/ 10/ 8,9. $12 gets 50%.
2,3,5,8/ 4,10,11/ 1,3,4,8,13/ 8,9. $12 gets 10%.

Black Booker (Racing Today)

Mister Douglas (Race 3 no. 7) $3.80
He may be a teenager (13YO) but this bloke continues to race in great heart and his last start effort when rattling home for second behind Mach Ruler at Cranbourne was an absolute pot-boiler. He meets a handy claiming field today but if he’s within striking distance on straightening then he’s the one to beat. Click here to view the run.
Star Trialler (Racing Today)

Sunset Invasion (Race 6 no. 10) $2.80
He is the Victoria Trotting Derby and Holmfield winner from last season who returns to racing today fresh from two impressive trial triumphs at Cranbourne and Tabcorp Park. At his best he’d be too good for his rivals today and those wins at the preliminaries should give punters the confidence to get on board first up.
