Good Form Preview - Saturday @ Cranbourne

THE GAME PLANS for Cranbourne

Michael Polster (@MickPolster)

Best Bets

Rhinestone Cowgirl (Race 1 no. 2) $2.50
She is no star and has been trying to win one of these races for a while without success but this really does look hers for the taking as she is a big chance of getting the lead and would only need to catch a decent breather at the head of affairs to be too good for a moderate bunch.

Pocket Legend (Race 4 no. 3) $3.50
This guy is getting better with each run this time in for Ross Sugars and will be at the peak of his powers now after going wire-to-wire at Cobram last start at his fourth go this campaign.  He should be able to make his way to the lead from gate 3 and although this is a step up in grade for him there doesn’t appear to be any pressure and he may just be too slick for them up the straight.

American Muscle (Race 8 no. 3) $1.70
Was sent up to Menangle to contest the Christmas Gift series where he won a heat in a new PB of 1:54.8 from the front end before being most unlucky in the final two weeks later behind Im On Target after being badly held up for a run.  He will have a little battle with Pete Of Pan for the lead but should do enough to keep that bloke out and with a cheap quarter thereafter he will be nigh on impossible to mow down.

Best Trifectas

Race 2
Truman is the one to beat here but I’m also giving Goldiedomic a hope of knocking him off with Big Bang Penny a clear third pick so I’m taking that trio in a trifecta and I’ll also take another one with Soho Ledger and Exotic Native to run third as a saver.  Below is how I’m playing with $100 total spend.

4,9/ 4,8,9/ 4,8,9.  $60 gets you 1500%
4,9/ 4,8,9/ 5,6.  $40 gets you 500%

Race 3
Artique and Soho Eastwood look much better than their rivals with Classy Guy, Local Vicka Lombo, Bretaca and Johnny Tsunami having strong place claims so I’ve come up with the below trifectas for $100 total spend to extract some cash from the race.

8,9/ 8,9/ 1,2,5,6.  $68 gets you 850%
8,9/ 1,2,5,6/ 8,9.  $32 gets you 400%

Quaddies (x2) $100 Outlay
2,3,6/ 1,2,3,5,8/ 3,4,6,11/ 3,10.  $50 gets you 41.66%
2,3,6/ 1,2,3,5,8/ 3,4,6,11/ 1,2,4,7,9.  $50 gets you 16.66%

Best Bet

Military Precision (Race 6 no. 6) $4
This trotter was having his third run from a long spell when running a terrific race for third last time out and he drops in grade big time for tonight’s assignment so should take some serious holding out.

Best Value

Anotherstrikenuget (Race 10 no. 1) $8
This is another of those $1500 races but they still pay out on the winner and this guy, who has been doing it tough from wide alleys recently and finally draws to lead may be the one given his ordinary opposition tonight.

Play of the Day

Race 6
The top five picks simply stand out from their rivals here so box them in Quinellas, Trifectas and First Fours and you shouldn’t be too far off the mark. Below are the runners in question.

3,4,5,6,11

Quaddie

Playing very wide tonight and hoping for a result given the depth and evenness of the Quaddie leg fields.

2,3,6/ 1,2,5,8/ 3,4,5,6,11/ 1,2,3,4,5,7,9,10. $100 gets 20.83%.

STAR TRIALLER

Artique (Race 3 no. 8) $2.10
Took out the Breeders Crown Consolation at Melton to end his freshman season on a high and resumes from a break tonight off the back to two recent trials, the latest an easy success on this circuit where he finished off on 28.9.  The draw is a bit tricky but Nathan Jack should get him into the clear when it matters and be hard to hold out at the business end.

BLACK BOOKERS – Melton Last Night

Washmepockets
Put up a huge performance in the Cobram Cup two back and was again responsible for a terrific effort last night when third to Mah Sish where he parked out and boxed on bravely for third at the end of a 54.7 final half.  He is airborne at present and will be winning very soon.

Kasyanov
This guy isn’t the most brilliant of trotters going around but there is no doubting his fortitude, which came to the fore last night when a game second to Aleppo Sunrise where he did his share of work early to find the breeze, sustained pressure at the bell and fought on bravely in the straight.  He won’t win out of turn at the top level but is going well enough to snare a decent race in the not too distant future.
