Good Form Preview - Saturday Night at Lords Raceway

THE GAME PLAN for Bendigo – with Michael Polster (@mickpolster)

Best Bets

Bob Dilinger (Race 3 no. 8) $2.20
This guy has always shown plenty of talent and is now under the care of Ross Sugars for whom he trialled stylishly for at Melton last Tuesday when second to Five Star Anvil where he was beaten 3m at the end of a 55.4 final half.  He doesn’t strike a hard race first up and I think he will be a shade too strong for his rivals.

Dartmoor (Race 8 no. 7) $1.80
He has jumped out of the ground since returning to the Dean Braun stable, winning two of his three runs for the astute mentor, the latest at Geelong last week from this very alley where he finished best out wide in a slippery last half of 56.8.  He would only need to reproduce that effort tonight to be much too good again.

Clancys Fobwatch (Race 9 no. 3) $1.40
This fellow is winless after 7 starts but he has been mixing it with the likes of The Kimura, Magic Moment Lombo, Charli Springfield, Bliss Man and Shakti Bromac of late and he won’t know himself against this lot.  He was an impressive trial winner here last Sunday by 25m where he rated 2:01.9 and slipped home in 58.4 and wound only need to replicate that performance tonight to get the cash.

Value Bets

Clevedon Betty (Race 2 no. 9) $3.50
She is winless after 15 attempts but looks ready to breakthrough after excellent efforts at her past two behind Lierre Noir at Melton when luckless and last week at Geelong when a gallant second to Here And Now after doing the work in the run.  She will have to earn it from the back row draw but I think she has a great chance and I’m having a decent crack at her each way.

Bon Jovi (Race 7 no. 2) $4
He was beaten 80m last start behind Cut For An Ace in the Metropolitan Cup Final at Melton, which isn’t exactly encouraging, but things didn’t go to plan for him that night as he was denied the lead, which is where he races best as indicated by his game second to Ezee Duzit Lombo at Shepparton prior where he set the pace.  He should have little trouble getting the front this time around and I think he is worth the gamble on an each way basis.

Quaddie
1,6,7,9/ 5,10/ 5,6,9,12/ 2,6,7,9,10.  $100 gets you 62.5%

BLACK BOOKER – Racing Tonight

Chasing Chelsea (Race 1 no. 1) $4
Was the run of the race in her heat of this final when second to Ponder In Paris as she sat parked and never stopped trying in the stretch to go down fighting.  She has changed stables since that performance and is now with Katrina Fitzpatrick, which is a bit of a query, but she does get the opportunity to go one better tonight from the ideal draw.

STAR TRIALLERS

Bob Dilinger (Race 3 no. 8) $2.20
Joins the Hopetoun Park team of Ross Sugars and a first up victory for the new barn is on the cards judging by his slashing trial at Melton last Tuesday when second to highly-rated Kiwi import Five Star Anvil where he was beaten 3m at the end of a 55.4 final half.  He isn’t opposed to any stars here and is clearly the one they have to beat.

Clancys Fobwatch (Race 9 no. 3) $1.40
Winless after 7 starts but he has been mixing it with the likes of The Kimura, Magic Moment Lombo, Charli Springfield, Bliss Man and Shakti Bromac of late and won’t know himself against this lot.  He was a most impressive trial winner on this circuit last Sunday and if the reproduces that effort tonight they won’t see which way he went.

BLACK BOOKERS – Melton Last Night

Smudge Bromac
Was forced to travel 3-wide the final 1400m when denied the breeze by a hard-pulling Henrik Zetterberg and his effort to run a narrow second to Cut For An Ace in ballistic time was terrific.  He hasn’t had much go his way lately and will be winning one soon when things finally fall into place for him.

Elegant Image
Resumed from a short let-up with a monstrous third to Vulcan in the Group 1 Knight Pistol where he missed the kick by about 40m, tacked onto the bulk of the field with a lap to travel and finished the race off strongly along the inside in a performance that had to be seen to be believed.  Expect him to be a force in the upcoming Great Southern Star.
