Good Form Preview - Friday @ Ballarat

The Game Plan for Ballarat – with Jason Bonnington (@jasonbonnington)
As has been the case so often at Ballarat in recent times, this card looks like being dominated by the Emma Stewart barn. In total, she has six runners in five races and it’s a measure of my respect for her that I think she can win every race she’s entered on the card. If she does, we’ll travel sweetly in our Quads and we’ll be half way home in our All-up and two of our Money Races tonight. So its fingers crossed for the Yellow Jersey ahead of this evening’s 10 race card!

Best Bets/ All-Up ($75)
Mister Onetwo (Race 3 no. 7) $1.70
I’ve always had a big opinion of this guy but his last start win, when sitting outside Freemason and simply crushing him through a brilliant final 1200m was enough to make me think he’s rivals here covered tonight, particularly as a couple of his key threats are resuming here.

Basil Knight (Race 8 no. 5) $2
This guy kicked off his campaign as a Good Form Star Trialler and thoroughly lived up to that billing by smashing his adversaries in very impressive fashion two starts back. He never got any luck at all last time and if he shows his best here he’ll be too good by a fair way.

Best Value ($25 Win)
Death Defying (Race 6 no. 5) $3
Here we have yet another trotter who entered her most recent prep as a Star Trialler and also franked that billing with a super win over Bella Cheval last time out. She meets some handy ones here but I’ve always liked her and after seeing her back to her best last start I’m happy to follow up tonight.

The Money Races ($75 Flexi Trifectas)
Race 3
As previously mentioned, I am a big wrap for Mister Onetwo (7) and simply think he’ll be too good tonight, but in the interests of playing things safe I’ve included the only three horses I think are capable of knocking him off in a saver Trick here.

7/ 3,4,5/ 3,4,5. $54 gets 900%
3,4,5/ 7/ 3,4,5. $21 gets 350%

Race 4
Modern Chic (4) didn’t overly impress me when winning as a hot red-figure favourite in by far the stronger of two heats for this final but the fact remains that she did win and she should get a comfortable lead yet again tonight so I can’t see her finishing any worse than second. As a result she is the ideal anchor for all our Tricks tonight.

4/ 1,7,8,10/ 1,7,8,10. $39 gets 325%
1,7,8,10/ 4/ 1,7,8,10. $18 gets 150%
4/ 1,7,8,10/ 11,12. $12 gets 150%
1,7,8,10/ 4/ 11,12. $6 gets 75%

The Quads (x3)
4/ 5/ 1,2,4,5/ 7,8,9,11. $28 gets 175%
4/ 3,4,6,8,9/ 1,2,4,5/ 7,8,9,11. $40 gets 50%
1,7,8,10/ 5/ 1,2,4,5/ 7,8,9,11. $32 gets 50%
