Good Form Preview - Monday @ Cobram

The Game Plan for Cobram – with Jason Bonnington (@jasonbonnington)
The Spring Carnival may be done and dusted but we are only drawing closer to Australia’s biggest harness carnivals so it’s down to these Victorian weekday meetings to deliver us some folding to invest on the monster programmes ahead. In essence, this programme looks flush with fairly clear winners so we are going to attack hard w/ 1 Best Bet, 2 Next Best Bets, 1 Best Value Bet, a Money Race and some Quads.

Best Bet ($50 Win)
Almost El Eagle (Race 3 no. 7) $3.50
The draw will obviously make things a little harder than they otherwise would have been but this bloke has always appeared capable of racing in very good class so he looks unbelievable well placed in a C0 final, particularly given that he obliterated his rivals in by far the fastest of three heats for this final at this course six days ago.

Next Best Bets ($25 win)
Who Broke Our Halo (Race 1 no. 1) $1.65
A very quick beginner, this guy won’t know himself with the ability to either lead or race in behind the speed after playing racing tough in each of his past five starts. Incredibly, he’s kept his consistency despite those tough runs and if he hold his form here he should be too good today.

The Court Jester (Race 4 no. 7) $3
The money was on and those in the know certainly got the right result when this bloke was backed off the Atlas on debut late last month. It’s a little surprising that we haven’t seen him since but if he turns up in a  similar mood here I’m not sure how this lot could possibly hold him out.

Best Value ($25 Each Way)
The Black Frost (Race 5 no. 1) $5
This is a tricky race but if it pans out as I expect for a Speed Map perspective then Gangster Boy (4) will lead and this bloke will be camped in just behind getting the ideal run he needs to perform at his best. He certainly has enough talent when on song and after trialling successfully at Shepparton last last month I actually think he’s the one they have to beat.

The Money Race – Race 3 (Flexi Trifectas for $50)
We’re back to the Almost El Eagle (7) race here and I think he’s close to a living moral, I also think that if he finds the front pretty quickly as expected then it will be a peg-dominated affair so I’m playing pretty heavily in favour of a well-drawn runner snaring the silver medal and maybe even dominating both placings in behind the favourite.

7/ 1,2,3/ 1,2,3. $24 gets 400%
7/ 1,2,3/ 6,9,11. $26 gets 288.89%

The Quads (x3)
7/ 1,4,6,8,9/ 1,2,5,11/ 1,2,4. $45 gets 75%
7/ 1,4,6,8,9/ 1,2,5,11/ 7,8,9,10. $20 gets 25%
1,5,9/ 1,4,6,8,9/ 1,2,5,11/ 1,2,4. $35 gets 19.44%
