Good Form Preview - Thursday Night @ HQ

The Game Plan for Melton – with Jason Bonnington (@jasonbonnington)
Best Bet ($50 Win)
Medonc (Race 6 no. 4) $3.75
This guy came to Australia from the Shaky Isles with pretty big wraps and while his two racetrack performances to date have been sub-standard he did win a recent Tabcorp Park trial by 66m and if they gift him the lead at some stage in this moderate field he should be winning tonight. Don’t expect $3.75 though as you simply won’t get it!

Best Value ($25 Each Way)
Le Rapide (Race 1 no. 7) $7
The draw has not been kind here but that’s because this bloke has class on most if not all of his rivals tonight. A versatile customer, he’s probably best held up for one big run and after podium finishes behind horses like Bellasario and Metro Mike in his last four starts he should have a big edge on what are mostly third-tier Claimers this evening.

Broadways Best (Race 7 no. 10) $7
The FFA tonight is a very strong and deep affair but I’ve been saying for some time that this mare is better suited in open class races these days as she follows speed brilliantly and the faster they go the better chance she is of winning. That fact was evidenced last start when she lucklessly rattled home behind Restrepo in The Legends and a similar display here will see her in the finish at good odds.

The Money Race – Race 4 (Flexi Trifectas for $100)
Even with some speed drawn to her outside I think Bit Of A Babe (4) will cruise over to find the front here and from there she can shoot for an all-the-way win or hand up to an appropriate rival, probably Lady Suffragette (7). Either way I can’t see her finishing any worse than second over the short course trip tonight so take the tricks below and you should be in the money.

4/ 3,7/ 3,7. $50 gets 2500%
3,7/ 4/ 3,7. $20 gets 1000%

Best Value
(Race 7 No.10 Broadways Best) ($50 Each Way) $7
This mare wasn’t suited by the tempo set up front two runs back, then really caught the eye last start where she charged through late after being last on straightening in The James & Son Legends behind Restrepo. There is a stack of speed drawn across the front line here which should set the race up for those off the speed and if she can work into the race with a trail she will be hard to hold out in the lane.

Money Races
Race 3 Flexi First 4 ($50)
1/ 5/ 2,3,6/ 2,3,6 $50 gets 833.33%

Race 4 Flexi First 4’s & Box Exacta ($75)
F4- 4/ 7/ 3/ 2,5,6,8 $30 gets 750%
F4- 4/ 7/ 2,5,6,8 / 3 $15 gets 375%
F4- 4/ 3/ 7/ 2,5,6,8 $15 gets 375%
Exacta - 3,7 boxed $15 gets 750%

Quads (x3)
4,7/ 6,9/ 4,9/ 8,10 $45 gets 281.25%
4,7/ 6,9/ 4,5,9,10/ 6,8,9,10 $50 gets 78.13%
4,7/ 1/ 4,9/ 8,10 $5 gets 125%

Sectionals
To view the sectional splits of EVERY HORSE in EVERY RACE at Melton last Saturday night simply click here.

As a snapshot below, here are some of the star sectional performers at Melton last weekend.

Fastest Last Mile – Metro Mike: 1:54.47

Fastest Last Half – Machin Out: 55.21secs
Fastest Last Quarter – Kid Coconut: 27.20secs

Sectional Superstar
Broadways Best (Race 7 no.10)
– $7

Broadways Best didn’t compete on last Saturday night’s program but we can still make her a sectional superstar from her run the previous week.
Letting fly with a last half that superior to all of her rivals, including Cordina Sprint contenders Restrepo and Smoken Up, she clearly has still has the blistering turn of foot to be competitive in FFA grade.
