Good Form Preview - Friday @ Tabcorp Park

The Game Plan for Melton – with Jason Bonnington (@jasonbonnington)
As we’ve seen all too often in recent times, non-metropolitan meetings at Tabcorp Park can be fraught with danger but I’m going to play pretty fast and loose all the same. Simply put, If Colby Reilly and Elusive Chick both win then it will party time, if one of them win, we’ll still end up on top and if they both get rolled well then we are in bother!

Best Bet ($50 Win)
Colby Reilly (Race 4 no. 4) $2.50
This guy boasts the imposing record of nine wins and five placings from just 18 starts and while many of those successes have been the result of excellent placement by his trainer, Wayne Potter, he does have a handy touch of class. Expect him to roll forward here and either find the front or sit parked outside The Binder (2). Either way he should be far too good.

Next Best Bets ($25 Win)
Easy Lightning (Race 3 no. 6) $2.80
Team Taiba have been on fire in recent weeks and no pacer has represented the stable better than this bloke. I’ve been thrilled with his recent improvement and given he’s got the best barrier possible in pref draws (6), has a tactical speed advantage over his major rival Paintball (7) and has added a certain level of toughness to his armoury I think he’ll lead or sit parked and also prove too strong.

Elusive Chick (Race 7 no. 4) $3.20
I’d hate to think what team Butt’s strike rate has been during their past couple of visits to Victoria but it would border on unthinkable so the fact I rate this mare the best winning hope here even without their polish means I really want to back her when you take them into account. I’m mildly concerned about where she’ll end up in the run but Ant Butt is a genius and he’ll ensure she gets every conceivable chance.

The Money Races
Race 3 (Flexi Trifecta for $50)
As mentioned above, I’m keen on Easy Lightning (6) getting the job done here or finishing second at very worst while Paintball (7), Suspicious Behavia (8) and Our Warwick Lad (9) are the dangers.

6/ 7,8,9/ 7,8,9. $24 gets 400%
7,9/ 6/ 7,8,9. $12 gets 200%
6/ 7,8,9/ 1,3,4. $14 gets 155.56%

Race 9 (Flexi First 4’s for $50)
Tallulah Bay (3) really should lead and win here but Insanity (4) has X-factor on debut and Tuscan Breeze (7) is pretty handy too.

3/ 1,4,7/ 1,4,7/ Field. $40 gets 166.67%
4,7/ 3/ 1,4,7/ Field. $10 gets 62.5%

The Quads (x2)
4/ 2,3,4,6,8,9/ 2,4,6,7,9,11,12,13/ 4. $48 gets 100%
4/ 2,3,4,6,8,9/ 2,4,6,7,9,11,12,13/ 1,5,7,11,13. $52 gets 21.67%
