Good Form Preview - Friday Night @ HQ

The Game Plan for Melton – with Blake Redden (@BlakeRedden)
Best Bets / All Up ($50)
Highview Conall (Race 1 No.6) $2.20
It’s hard not to love what this guy has done since gracing Victorian tracks. He is a winner of three from his last five and has had excuses in his two defeats. While he may not have a heaps of tactical speed, he can come with one run at the end and outsprint his rivals tonight.

Blitzthemcalder (Race 3 No.6) $1.50
Now under the tutelage of Craig Demmler, this is his first full preparation with that team and provided he doesn’t gallop he looks a class above this field. He is a multiple Group 1 winner who is being set for the Vicbred Super Series for four-year-old trotters and all things being equal he will win this off the back of a nice trial and head that way as one of the favourites.

Spidergirl (Race 4 No.9) $1.65 TAB Fixed Odds
This girl is quite clearly on the verge of being one of Australia’s best squaregaiters after going down to Keystone Del narrowly at her last two. Back to her own sex here she can negate the second row barrier and return to the winners stall.

Claudys Princess (Race 6 No.9) $1.70 TAB Fixed Odds
Unbeaten against fillies, I can see no reason why tonight’s Oaks will go any other way. She smashed them in the New South Wales Oaks, in fact she has crushed her rivals at all three starts since her Princess Of Speed win and with a lovely trailing draw, she will be in the first handful early and nearly impossible to stop when she cuts loose.

Best Value ($10 win x $15 place)
Steam Washed (Race 5 No.13) $5
This mare may well still be a touch underrated following her Queen Of The Pacific second. She is ultra brave, consistent and most importantly super talented. Even from the horror draw, she can make her own luck at some stage and even though she has to take on the boys here, she is the horse to beat.

Cold Major (Race 7 No.5) $3.40
I love the way this guy is progressing. I must say I wasn’t his biggest fan in days gone by but his past two runs have turned me around. He ran a close-up fourth to stablemate Wartime Sweetheart two starts back then got carted out of the race by Restrepo last time. He is clearly on an upward spiral and will likely be good overs tonight.

The Money Race ($36 worth of Flexi Trifectas)
Race 10
Essentially Smudge Bromac (7) is a class above his claiming competition here and he has proven that of recent times so we are going to play some trifectas mainly based Eliminator (3) filling the other quinella position but also Because I Can (6) who is getting fitter and has good gate speed. Thats Mister Ali (5) and Fire It Up (1) can be thrown in as wider hopes.

As a snapshot below, here are some of the star sectional performers at Melton last weekend.

Fastest Last Mile – Magical Telf: 1:54.49

Fastest Last Half – Villagem: 54.00secs
Fastest Last Quarter – Our White Knight: 26.56secs

Sectional Superstar
Villagem (Race 7 no.9) $4
The numbers don’t lie and this guys last half was the most impressive of the night last week. He has continued to thrive in the new stable and will again be hard to beat if he has any luck at all.
