Generally speaking I am not usually that bullish about the Ararat circuit but it can be extremely profitable when the right races/horses present themselves & I’m hopeful that is the case tonight. As has been something if a consistent recent theme, I’m steering away from Best Bets in preference for a couple of Best Roughies, three Money Races & a few Quads which look a lot juicier with a couple of late scratchings this morning.
Best Roughies ($5 Win $15 Place)
Giveusagrin (Race 4 no. 3) $17
This bet is much more about price than any real push that this guy’s the one to beat. Put simply, I don’t think there’s very much between about five of these & with the possibility this bloke will head them off at the start I’m willing to take the $17 or something similar – if it is available.
Peaces Of You (Race 7 no. 4) $12
This girl is probably in the twilight of her career & she hurts herself w/ a lack of genuine change-up speed but having said that she almost always dugs in to finish off her races & has earned more money than any of her her rivals here tonight. Add to the melting pot a small chance that she can cross them early & all of a sudden the $12 is looking very good indeed.

This bet is a little risky because Sapper Ford (6) is first up from a break but on their best form that horse & Mulgrave (8) would dominate this affair w/ three key runners likely to join them on the dais.

6,8/ 6,8/ 2,9. $6 gets 150%
6,8/ 1,7,10/ 6,8. $15 gets 250%
8/ 1,7,10/ 1,7,10. $6 gets 100%
Race 6
The best bet about this race is that we can pretty much out a lie through half the runners even filling a hole. That leaves us w/ a handful of Trifecta hopes and if Indiana Angel (4) or Always Wantano (10) salute it should b a profitable race.
4,10/ 3,4,7,9,10/ 3,4,7,9,10. $48 gets 200%
3,7,9/ 3,4,7,9,10/ 3,4,7,9,10. $12 gets 50%
Races 8
This is the best betting race of the night. On face value Jilliby Master (2) should lead with Jeans Mattjesty (1) behind him & Willow Robyn (6) racing somewhere handy. The only fly in the ointment is if Willow Robyn (6) crosses over @ the start but we’ve made provisions if that is the case.
